Padang (ANTARA) - W Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno said the examination of specimens for Patients Under Supervision (PDP) in the area has been completed and will be continued with the examination of specimens from persons under monitoring

(ODP).

"The PDP examination has been completed. We are entering the ODP examination. The results of the inspection will be very useful in making policies related to handling the COVID-19 outbreak," he said in Padang, Sunday.

He said PDP was indeed a priority in the examination because they have symptoms. As a result, those who were identified as positive had been cared for or isolated independently at home while the negative could be transferred immediately from the referral hospital.

Until Sunday (4/12) there were 128 PDP recorded in W Sumatra. From that number 79 people have been declared negative while 49 people are still being treated or isolated independently.

The results of the examination of the Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine Unand, until yesterday were identified 32 positive people of COVID-19, six people were recovered and three died.

"If the results of the ODP specimen examination are completed, it will be easier for the handling steps to be carried out," he said.

The current number of ODP in W Sumatra is based on data from the W Sumatra COVID-19 handling post of 4,783 people, 1,222 of ODP and 3,561 people have been monitored.

"Our priority now for the 1,222 people who are still being monitored is to immediately know their status," said Irwan.

According to him at the moment Unand Faculty of Medicine Laboratory can examine 120 specimens in one day. The quota can be added if Bukittinggi Veterinary Institute in Baso gets permission to examine coronavirus specimens under the legality of Unand.

"In Baso, it can check 50 specimens a day. So we can complete this ODP examination as soon as possible," he said.

Meanwhile Head of the Diagnostic and Research Center for Infectious Diseases of Andalas University Andani Eka Putra said that in an emergency situation, his office could seek to examine 200 samples a day plus those from Baso, it can check 250 specimens a day.
