Tourism Development Should be Packaged Based on Industry: ASITA

Padang Aro, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Chairman of Indonesian Travel Association (Asita) Asnawi Bahar said the development of tourism sector should be packaged in an industry or it does not just according to bureaucratic order.

"Tourism development is not just selling natural beauty but it is as a tourism industry. So far the development of tourism is so monotonous because it is only done by bureaucrats," he said here on Monday (June 25).

According to him, head of the region should be able to change the mindset of its tourism officials especially Head of Tourism respectively does not act as a bureaucrat, but it has positioned itself as CEO of tourism industry in attracting tourists.

He explained that organizing tourist areas should be harmonized with the provision of lodging facilities annd culinary based locally and internationally.

Furthermore, it should be noted the factors supporting the progress of tourism such as accessibility.

"Tourism becomes more attractive when it is easily reached," he noted.

In addition, the attraction becomes the main product of tourist destinations. Then the new provision of all supporting facilities can fulfill the needs of tourists while in the destination.

Meanwhile, tourism activist of West Sumatra Yulnofrins Napilus said the arrival of four regional heads to Thousand of Gadang Houses Area (Kawasan Saribu Rumah Gadang) will have a positive impact for promotion.

"The main thing is the positive benefits for South Solok tourism promotion," he added. (cha)
