Parit Malintang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Deputy Regent of Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra Suhatri Bur said 15 tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis) will participate in safeguarding the security and safety of tourists in the tourist attraction during Eid 2018 holidays.
"Pokdarwis has been formed in a number of tourist attractions in Padang Pariaman, they will follow to keep the security," he said in here on Monday.
He said Pokdarwis does not only in charge of managing tourist objects, but also responsible for the safety and security of tourists.
Moreover, due to the objects of tourism in Padang Pariaman are dominated by special interest destination and the beach, so that it needed attention to the safety of visitors.
Pokdarwis in the area are trained to understand their duties and responsibilities and know things to do in case of problems.
The training provided includes a joint exercise between Pokdarwis with Indonesian Red Cross and Regional Disaster Management Agency that had been done some time ago.
The training contains materials and practices to deal with drowning victims and accidents so that pokdarwis can immediately handle it.
In addition to Pokdarwis, he said that disaster preparedness groups in the area are also ready to help in case of events that threaten the safety of citizens and tourists. (cha)
