West Pasaman Supports Crocodile Conservation Park Development

Simpang Empat, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The government of West Pasaman District strongly supports West Sumatra Forestry Office and Pasaman Raya Forest Conservation plan to build a Crocodile Conservation Park in Kinali Sub-district, Local Regent, Syahiran stated in here, Tuesday (May 22).

He hoped that the opening of crocodile conservation park in West Pasaman can be a new tourist destination later so that it can increase the number of tourist visits.

Besides, it also can become employment for surrounding community and increase the income of community in conservation area with the number of tourist visits.

"Hopefully with the opening of the planned crocodile conservation area in Labuang Hijau Kinali and Katiagan, it can become a new tourist destination in West Pasaman," he hoped.

Meanwhile, Head of West Sumatra Provincial Forestry Office, Hendri Oktavia said that Kinali area contains many mangrove areas and it is suitable for forest conservation.

"Kinali has a lot of mangrove areas, such areas are suitable for forest conservation, especially with the presence of crocodiles in the area, so it will be more efficient," he added. (cha)
