Pariaman Strengthens Tourism Promotion Through Fashion Parade

Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Pariaman Fashion Parade which is held on Saturday (April 7) night is one of the efforts to promote tourism sector in the region to national level, Pariaman Mayor, Mukhlis Rahman stated.

"Pariaman Fashion Parade is held regularly every year, it is also utilized directly by local government in introducing various tourism objects in Pariaman City," he explained.

He said various leading tourist attractions that were introduced such as Gandoriah Beach, Kata Beach, tours to Angso Duo Island, turtle breeding center, and the introduction of various traditional culinary such as Kapalo Ikan and Sala Lauak.

The arrival of participants and national designers to Pariaman in the event, indirectly glance at various tourism potential in the city.

It hopes that the designers and participants do not only introduce embroidery and embroidered crafts only, but also introduce various tourism objects in the province, especially Pariaman.

He explained that Pariaman Fashion Parade event held since last four years is considered quite able to boost tourism visits.

At the beginning it was established in 2002, local governments recorded approximately only 100 to 200 thousand visitors during a calendar year.

But the surge of visitors from various regions began to increase especially since the last few years. Then Pariaman recorded approximately three million tourists visits in 2017, he noted.

"Besides, it must be harmonized with a variety of local handicrafts such as embroidery so that tourists who come can stop at once shop," he remarked.

Futhermore, it has a direct impact to economic sector, especially in the area of tourist attractions.

Meanwhile, West Sumatra Governor Expert Staff Jefrinal Arifin said the provincial government fully supports the steps Pariaman in promoting the creative economy and tourism.

In addition, it does not only aim to promote the various crafts of the region, but also impacts on the regional tourism sector. (cha)
