South Pesisir To Develop Inderapura Kingdom Heritage

Painan, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of South Pesisir District, West Sumatra, plans to develop the history and heritage of Inderapura Kingdom which was once domiciled in the area as one of tourism object.

"This plan is in addition to introduce the history and heritage of Inderapura Kingdom as well as efforts to enrich the tourist destination in South Pesisir," Regent of South Pesisir, Hendrajoni stated in Painan on Wednesday (Sept 6).

So, he said, when the tourists have been satisfied to enjoy the charm of marine tourism such as Mandeh Region, Carocok Beach Painan, White Sand Beach Kambang and others, they can re-entertained with historical tour of Inderapura Kingdom.

According to him, the Kingdom of Inderapura has some relics such as spears, kris and others, even royal debris.

"Of course, before the historical tour of Inderapura Kingdom is being launched, it will be given a little touch so that it can become a new magnet of tourists," he said.

Nevertheless, it can not be sure when the development of historical attractions is done because it is currently waiting for approval from royal descendants.

"We are still waiting if everything has been agreed, then the cultivation will be implemented as soon as possible," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the villagers who claimed to be the descendant of Inderapura king, Sutan Heri Yardi welcomed the plan and made a maximum effort to support the plan.

"Hopefully with the history and legacy of the Kingdom of Inderapura as a tourist attraction to increase the insight of tourists around the kingdom that once existed in Indonesia," he said.

Inderapura Kingdom experienced the heyday in 15th century until the mid-16th century, the kingdom is relying on the results of plantations and agriculture to prosper the community. (*)
