Padang (ANTARA) - As many as 23 star-rated hotels in W Sumatra have received certificates free of COVID-19 after all their employees have taken swab tests in the last three days.

"In addition to getting a certificate, the hotel is also given a sticker that the employees are free of COVID-19 so that it can be seen by hotel guests," said Head of the W Sumatra Tourism Office, Novrial in Padang, Wednesday.

He explained it was done to provide a safe and comfort to hotel guests and tourists who want to stay in W Sumatra.

Hotels that have received COVID-19 free certificates are Pangeran Beach, Pangeran City, UNP Hotel, Amaris, Daima, Whiz Prime, Rocky Plaza, ION Hotel Padang.

Then Grand Zuri, Fave, Ibis, Padang Hotel, Hayam Wuruk, and Mercure.

Then, Kryad Bumiminang, Parkside Nuance Maninjau, The Axana, Grand Inna, Bunda, Cavery Beach, Mariani Hotel, Oxville, and Imelda.

Novrial said the local government does not force tourists to stay at these hotels, but he just provides alternatives to tourists. If you want to stay in a hotel free of COVID-19, that options are available in W Sumatra.

Meanwhile Deputy Chairperson of the W Sumatra chapter of the Indonesia Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) and GM Kyriad Bumiminang, Fadjri Roesman said the swab test for hotel employees had been conducted since Monday (6/29). Yesterday was the last day held at the Bumi Minang Hotel.

In addition to the commitment to take a swab test for all 23 hotel employees, according to him, he is also committed to provide services with health protocol standards related to COVID-19.

These standards include body temperature measurements for guests and tourists who came, wash hands with the facilities provided by the hotel, and always wear masks in public places.

"We are trying our best to contribute to break the chain of distribution of COVID-19 in W Sumatra without reducing the quality of service," he said.

The tourism sector in W Sumatra is starting to improve again in a new normal era with no restrictions on traveling between regions, although it must still apply health protocols.

The wave of tourists began to come not only locally in the area or province, but come from outside the province from Jakarta and even abroad who want to try surving on the Mentawai waves.
