Pariaman (ANTARA) - A total of 392 athletes from 33 roller skating clubs claimed to take part in the Pariaman Open National Championship which will be held on 4 to 6 October at Pantai Cermin, Pariaman City, W Sumatra.
"Some athletes have come to Pariaman, and have tried out the roller skates arena at Pantai Cermin," said Secretary of the Pariaman City Youth and Sports Education Office, Hertati Taher in Pariaman on Wednesday.
He said that until this afternoon six clubs had arrived in Pariaman, the teams was from Malaysia, Kerawang in West Java, Jambi, Padang, Riau and Pasaman.
While other clubs are still on the way and it is predicted that those who use the plane will arrive at Pariaman this afternoon, while those who take the land route will arrive tonight.
All athletes stay at hotels and inns in Pariaman.
"With so many athletes, the aim of this event is reached, it is for sports tourism," he said.
He conveyed the event was not only to drive sports in the field of roller skates but also for sports tourism.
Head of Education, Youth and Sports Office of Pariaman City Kanderi said the National Roller Skates Championship which will be held at Pantai Cermin on 4 to 6 October can realize sport tourism in the area.
"We are trying to increase the attractiveness of Pariaman City by holding roller skating events," he said in Pariaman, on Saturday.
He said the national activity will be attended by hundreds of participants from various regions in Indonesia and some even from Malaysia.
