UNP, Malaysia Established Cooperation To Develop Tourism, Economy Sectors

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - State University of Padang (UNP), West Sumatra established a memorandum of understanding on Asia Metropolitan University (AMU) Malaysia in the development of economy and tourism.

Rector of UNP Prof. Genefri in here on Wednesday (June 6) said that the cooperation aims to channel UNP students to study and field practice abroad.

"They have a wide network in ASEAN to China so it can be used for university development in the future," he said.

He said the form of cooperation which also be done is credit transfer of some courses, joint research, student exchange, exchange of lecturers and others.

"The cooperation will support our vision to become an international university later," he remarked.

Canselor of Asia Metropolitan University Malaysia Mohamad Khan Bin Jamal Khan said that the agreed memorandum of understanding will be an introduction to continue the work of two universities in the future.

He said AMU itself is a private university that has several campuses in several areas in Malaysia.

"We will accept UNP students to have such practice and bring their lecturers to Malaysia to see the facilities owned so it will open the view to conduct cooperation more broadly," he added. (cha)
