Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - PT Semen Padang prepares a strategy to increase competitiveness and product quality to conquer the market amid by declining cement industry in the last few days, Finance Director of PT Semen Padang Tri Hartono Rianto stated in here on Wednesday (May 30).
He said the current supply of cement is very abundant nationally and the condition is added by the policy of clinker and cement import.
Then, the entire of cement industry in the country drops to 50 percent net profit from the financial side.
Tri acknowledged that nowadays there is a change in the condition of cement industry that was once higher in demand from supply and it is now transformed into a higher offer despite considerable infrastructure projects.
He said in addition to improve the quality, it targets to make the company's efficiency up to Rp200 billion in 2018 but the value has not been able to cover the decline in sales which is quite sharp.
In the first quarter of 2018, Semen Padang's production reached 1.7 million tons, an increase compared to the first quarter of 2017 which only reached 1.4 million tons of cement.
This means that from the production side, there is an increase of 21 percent and sales increased from the tonnage side of 1.5 million tons in the first quarter of 2017 to 1.9 million tons in the first quarter of 2018, he explained.
Besides, PT Semen Padang is also eyeing a number of opportunities in 2018 such as the construction of Padang toll road to Pekanbaru which is expected to use its product.
"Then the utilization of village funds for infrastructure development with an opportunity to reach Rp40 billion," he said.
He added that from the production side, Semen Padang continues to increase in 2016 or reach 6.5 million tons and it increases to 7.4 million tons in 2017. (cha)
