President Highlights Several Development Programs for W Sumatra

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - President Joko Widodo explained a number of development programs that have been initiated and implemented by the Central Government for West Sumatra during his working visit to Padang on Monday.

"I just inaugurated the airport train from Minangkabau Airport to Padang. Later, the capacity in front of airport terminal will be expanded," the president remarked after distributing 510 certificates of waqf land in Jamiatul Huda Mosque Ketaping Padang.

The President said that in the near future, Minangkabau International Airport will also be enlarged because it is now full of 2.7 million passengers per year.

"God willing, by the end of next year we will finish that the capacity of Minangkabau airport will be 5.7 million passengers by enlarging the terminal," he noted.

Then in order to build world tourism in West Sumatra, the central government has built a road to Mandeh, South Pesisir.

"Hopefully, it becomes a good tourism place. Actually, I have been there incredible scenery but the road infrastructure does not adequate," he said.

Then he also said that Padang toll road has begun to be built to Pekanbaru and now it is still in the process. If it is completed, hopefully it will encourage economic growth of West Sumatra.

"West Sumatra's economy is quite good now. Then, with the development of infrastructure, it will be even better," he added. (cha)
