Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo distributed 510 certificates of waqf land for mosques, mushalls and educational institutions in West Sumatra during a working visit to Padang on Monday.
The handover was done symbolically to 19 representatives from each district and municiaplity accompanied by Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Sofyan Djalil and Governor of West Sumatra Irwan Prayitno at Jamiatul Huda Mosque Ketaping, Padang.
"When I go to the field, I often find places of worship and even boarding schools whose land has not been certified, some of which complain there is a land dispute," the president said.
Based on the phenomenon, the president asked Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial to immediately complete the certificate of worship place waqf.
"Today there are 510 certificates had been hand overed. It is only a small part, but at least it has started," he remarked.
He noted that with the distribution of certificates, there is no longer any chance of land disputes because there is already evidence of land rights for mosques, madrassas and boarding schools.
Meanwhile, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, Sofyan Djalil said that there are always conflicts over land in big cities and some are long lasting.
"This is one of the reasons the president has assigned me that all waqf land are certified," he remarked.
Therefore, he invited all managers of waqf land to immediately take care of the land certificate and it is targeted to complete 1,500 certificates in this year. (cha)
