South Solok To Plant 100 Hectares Gogo Rice

Padang Aro, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of South Solok District, West Sumatra will plant up to 100 hectares of gogo rice in 20018 in order to support the rice production of the area.
The Head of South Solok Agriculture Agency, Tri Handoyo Gunardi in Antara here, said that the development of gogo rice will be done for the first time in the area so there needs to be intense assistance to farmers.
The development relates to upland rice which is an agricultural crop that cultivated in dry land. It is especially in areas with low rainfall, or at the top of a slope area that is less able to hold water for a long time.
"We are targeting all the lands have been planted in the period of June to July 2018," he remarked.
The development of upland rice is spreading in two sub-districts with four beneficiary groups.
The recipients are Minang Saiyo Farmers Group in Jorong Tandai Ateh, Simpang Tiga Raya, and Tandai Sepakat in Jorong Tandai Simpang Tigo, and Bina Tani in Nagari Dusun Tangah.
Each group gets a quota of 25 hectares with the volume of seeds and urea fertilizer each of 1,250 kilograms.
For conventional rice in 2018, South Solok targets rice production of 158,800 tons, up 6,609 tons compared to 2017 which only 152,191 tons.
He said to fulfill the production target in 2018, it will optimize the new land that is printed in 2017 covering 92 hectares.
By intensifying the new land of 92 hectares, it is expected that the results will increase so that it can support the additional production of whole rice.
He mentioned that South Solok dry paddy production in 2017 is only 97.08 percent or 147,747 tons from the target of 152,191 tons.
The target of planting and harvesting in 2017 is also not reached, where the planting target is 27,773 hectares, the realization is only 27.342 hectares, or 98.45 percent.
Meanwhile, the harvest targeted for 27,762 hectares is only reached 27,330 hectares or 98.44 percent, he added. (cha)
