Proverty Rate in W Pasaman Decreased
Simpang Empat, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The poverty rate in West Pasaman District, West Sumatra decreased in comparing to the previous year rate.
From the data in the Regional Development Planning Board, it recorded the number of poverty figures initially as many as 26,653 Families (KK) and currently fell to 23,191 KK.
Regent of West Pasaman, Syahiran confirms that the poverty incidence is not a misnomer, but based on validation of Prosperous Family Deposit (PSKS) and Social Problems (PPMS) data.
He explained the details of poverty rate in West Pasaman is divided into 11 sub-districts namely the Sub-district of Ranah Batahan poor household as many as 1.891 families, Sungai Beremas Sub-district 1,676 people, Koto Balingka Sub-district 2,668 people and Lembah Melintang 2,135 inhabitants.
Then the Sub-district of Sungai Aur 2,078 inhabitants, the district of Funung Tuleh 2,155 people, Sasak Ranah Pasisie Sub-district 1,610 people, Talamau Sub-district 3,160 people, Pasaman Sub-district 2,155 people, Luhak Nan Duo Sub-district 1,831 people and Kinali Sub-district as many as 1,887 inhabitants.
West Pasaman poverty rate is down from 7.93 percent in 2015 to 7.40 percent in 2016. Hopefully in 2021 later, the region can reduce the poverty rate to 5.75 percent specifically.
Likewise with the backwardness of the area, from the existing data the number of jorong left behind also decreased from 23 jorong into the lagging regions decreased to 16 jorong.
"We are optimistic that in 2019, West Pasaman will be separated from disadvantaged areas," he said.
According to him, the head of the West Sumatran Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda), Hansastri, said that West Pasaman was the fastest place in his life compared to the other two disadvantaged areas in West Sumatra, Sunday (Jan 7).
In relation to the fulfillment of basic infrastructure from 2015 to 2017, the government has implemented paved roads for 120 kilometer, has opened new road for eight kilometers and construction of six bridge units.
In the field of development of Human Resources (SDM) quality in West Pasaman, it succeeded in increasing the human development index (HDI) from 65.26 percent in 2015 to 66.03 in 2016, he explained.
He acknowledged that poor households in West Pasaman still exist and it is the duty of local government to realize better West Pasaman.
Moreover, West Pasaman has a large area and some islands and jorong that is isolated with inadequate infrastructure.
Some input from community leaders, provincial and central government will be a concern for future development, he added. (cha)
