Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - A number of West Sumatra Minangkabau tradition artists are scheduled to appear in the Europalia Art Festival which will visit four countries in continental Europe in December 2017.

Leader of Nan Jombang Dance Company, Eri Mefri in Padang, Monday, said in addition to Nan Jombang, there are several other traditional arts groups that will appear in the event

"There are four groups of traditional art that will go to Europalia along with Nan Jombang," he said.

The four groups include Silek Group Sarik Sati Rantau Batuah and Saluang Dendang from Langkok Group from Padang.

There are also two arts groups Salawaik Dulang, namely the Arrow Rays and Arjuna Arrows from Batusangkar.

"The entourage will depart on December 5 and return on December 14, 2017 to visit the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Austria," he pointed out.

The entire group that departed beforehand has been featured in the Festival Nan Jombang on 3rd day which is held every month since five years ago.

"After experiencing many obstacles in preparation for departure, eventually the artists of the tradition can participate in the international-class festival," he continued.

In addition to the above four groups, Nan Jombang itself will feature a dance entitled Rantau Berbisik with a duration of approximately one hour.

Meanwhile, artists of Salawaik Dulang from the Group of Rays, Jhon Cakra expects that his art can be known to foreign countries.

Because, according to him Salawaik Dulang art is very rarely performed abroad.

He also hopes that it will be a motivation for the younger generation to re-recognize the art of Minang tradition. (cha)
