Lubukbasung, (Antara Sumbar) - The national road of Padangpariaman to Bukittinggi through Nagari (traditional village) Malalak Timur, Agam District, West Sumatra broken up due to an avalanche of soil material piling up the 25 meter lenght and two meter high on Tuesday at around 12.30 p.m..
Secretary of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Agam Novendri in Lubukbasung, on Tuesday said it had coordinated with provincial government to clear the landslide material.
"Currently the heavy equipment is assisted by local community, the rapid reaction team (TRC) BPBD of Agam and others have started to clean the landslide material that hoard the road," he said.
He hopes the landslide material with a length of about 25 meters and two meters high can be quickly cleared for transportation access from Sicincin Padangpariaman to Bukittinggi return to normal.
Previously, the national road was not passable either from the direction of Bukittinggi or from the direction of Padangpariaman.
"The location is an area prone to landslides if high rainfall hit the area," he said.
In addition to Malalak, high rainfall hit the area since Monday (Nov 27) afternoon until Tuesday (Nov 28) morning, then also resulted landslide material hoarded the road in Koto Panjang, Nagari Tanjung Sani, Tanjungraya on Tuesday morning .
In addition, the landslide occurred in Sungai Landia, Ampekkoto Sub-district, Tuesday (Nov 28) afternoon, resulting in the body of the road covered with material.
"Currently the landslide material has been cleared by community, TRC BPBD is using heavy equipment and after landslide material in Sungai Landia is cleared, the heavy equipment is sent to Malalak," he said.
In addition to landslides, fallen trees also occur Palembayan Tangah, Palembayan, Salo and Koto Tinggi Baso District, Matur Hilia and Aia Kijang Palupuh.
As a result, three units of houses were severely damaged and the casualties suffered losses of about tens of millions.
With the high rainfall, BPBD of Agam has prepared TRC personnel and vehicles to be used during the disaster struck the area and urged the villagers to report immediately in case of a disaster in their area.
In addition, TRC BPBD of Agam also conduct patrols and if found the fallen trees, landslides and others then immediately cleaned.
"We also urge citizens to increase their vigilance by avoiding locations prone to floods, landslides and others in order not to become victims," he added. (cha)
