BPPT urges people to be actively involved in smart city program

Padang (ANTARA) - The Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) asks the public to be actively involved in realizing the Padang City, West Sumatra as one of the smart cities.

"In the smart city program, one of the pillars is smart economy, in this pillar the business community must be able to utilize technology to support economic improvement," said guide of Padang Smart City BPPT Andrari Grahitandaru in Padang on Wednesday.

He said the development of information technology in the implementation of smart city provides new income opportunities for economic improvement and must be packaged by relevant agencies and the public.

He also said, the development of Padang City into a smart city had shown a good process, in addition to improving services other things were also seen in the development of tourism infrastructure and the availability of information technology in that place.

But he said, his party would still conduct surveys to the public to find out the satisfaction and achievements of the smart city program.

"The community should know the innovation services provided by the Padang City government, and that should be socialized," he said.

The Secretary of the Padang City Communication and Information Office, Tarmizi Ismail, said that the evaluation activity was to find out the achievements and could be used as material to find out what should be pursued.

"This is the third year that Padang City has entered as one of 100 cities that have been provided with facilities by the Ministry of Communication and Information to become a smart city and there are several evaluations that we will carry out according to the direction of the center government," he said.

He said BPPT would visit several places and Regional Apparatus Organizations included in the six pillars of the smart city to find out the achievements and processes to be carried out.

"In equating this smart city program we continue to make other efforts, including increasing human resources, and also innovating and improvising programs," he said.
