Sarilamak (ANTARA) - West Sumatera Tourism Office held the Rafting Festival in the Lareh Sago Halaban, Limapuluh Kota district in an effort to attract more tourist visits to the area.
"Tourism is not just about the attraction, but also the attractions that can be offered to provide an impressive experience for tourists," said the head of tourism Department of W Sumatra, Novrial through Division Head Marketing Department of Tourism of W Sumatra, Hendri Agung Indrianto in Limapuluh Kota District, on Tuesday.
He said that the experience was offered by the Rafting Festival. The target is not a tourist in general, but tourists who have special interest in rafting.
Furthermore he said tourist attractions is the thing that become the main attraction of a tourist destination. And a good tourist destination is a place that should be able to give a valuable impression and experience to the tourists.
This impression and experience will make travellers consider their visit again, he said.
"For that, we invite all of us to jointly succeed the implementation of the Festival Rafting by being a good host, friendly, and responsive to the guests who come so that will complement the charm of W Sumatra in the eyes, hearts and minds of the Travelers, " he said.
Thus, tourists are expected that special interest will continue to arrive so that it can benefit the welfare of the surrounding community.
Vice Regent Limapuluh Kota, Ferizal Ridwan hopes that the activities involving three nagari each Halaban, Ampalu, and Tanjung Gadang can have a positive impact on the surrounding community.
He said the district has many tourism objects that can be developed for various attractions to attract tourists.
He hopes forward will appear many other attractions that emerge as a tourism power area.
The rafting Festival is followed by about 30 teams from W Sumatra, Riau and Jambi. In Total there were 150 people involved in the competitions The rafting competition with a river pass length of about 300 meters is expected to be very interesting because of the river currents are quite heavy.
