Pariaman (ANTARA) - The Government of Pariaman City, W Sumatra has provided Rp390 million for the 2019 Pariaman Internasional Triathlon event which will be held November 23 and 24.
"This year's Pariaman International Triathlon is the sixth time since 2014," said Acting Head of the Tourism and Culture (Disparbud) Office of Pariaman, Alfian in Pariaman, on Friday.
He said the sporting tourism event carried out three sports, swimming, running, and cycling, with participants not only local athletes, but also national and international athletes.
The event was also supported by the geographical location of the City of Pariaman which is on the beach and adequate infrastructure, he said.
According to him it was also able to bring tourists from a number of regions because they wanted to watch the event.
"We are targeting 150,000 tourists to come to Pariaman on those two days to watch this event," he said.
He mentioned the target of participants in the event which reached 600 athletes for triathlons and duathlon for all categories.
He detailed the categories in the event, namely the standard group with ages 20 to 29 years, 30 to 39 years, 40 years and above, and the Indonesian army/Indonesian Police.
Then the sprint class with beginner categories 13 to 15 years, juniors 16 to 19 years and groups of 20 to 29 years, 30 to 39 years 40 years and over and fun triathlon classes.
Whereas for duathlon they are standard group classes with ages 20 years and over, sprints with middle and high school participants, kid relay classes for group participants with ages eight to nine years and 10 to 11 years.
He said that he had opened registration for the Pariaman Internasional Triathlon through the website www.triathlonpariaman.id whereas the registration can be done by coming directly to Secretariat of the Tourism and Culture Office of Pariaman City. (*)
