Painan (ANTARA) - Batang Kapas Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan District, W Sumatra is developing a rice-based and durian-based rural area that is integrated with tourism.
"This activity was carried out as an effort to provide added value to the rice and durian plants in Batang Kapas," said the local District Head, Wendra Rovikto in Painan, on Sunday.
So that in the future rice and durian plants not only provide economic value when sold to traders when entering the harvest period but can also be offered as tourism services, he added.
"Tour packages waiting for mature durian to fall from the trees are very interesting, the rice planting competition is also interesting. In the future the packaging will be directed like that, "he said.
He stated that the integration was carried out after the sub-district and other related parties had previously conducted a thorough study by paying attention to the potential.
"After the study was completed, the implementation in the form of a regent regulation came out so that we were increasingly free to implement it," he said.
In its implementation in accordance with the regent's regulation, there is an opportunity to enter the budget from the central, provincial, district and nagari governments and even third parties.
"This year we are still in the maturation stage if everything goes according to plan, next year it can be realized," he added.
Batang Kapas is a sub-district adjacent to District IV Jurai which is the center of the local district capital.
In this sub-district there are several stunning marine attractions such as Pantai Tan Sridano, Pantai Labuang Baruak, Pantai Taluak Kasai, Pantai Sungai Tawa and others.
Besides being accessible by land, tourists usually also come to Pantai Labuang Baruak and Pantai Taluak Kasai by sea by renting a tour boat at Pantai Carocok Painan.
