"We have taken the policy during the Ramadhan that the fountain was not turned on so that the concentration of the community was not disturbed," said Deputy Mayor of Bukittiggi Irwandidi Bukittinggi on Thursday.
He explained that on a typical day, Air Mancur Menari was turned on between the hours of 19.00 p.m to 09.30 p.m as an attraction at night in the heart of the capital city of Bukittinggi.
However, during this Ramadhan the span of time that Muslims were carrying out tarawih worship so it was turned off first so as not to disturb the people who were worshiping.
He believes that the decision to turn off Air Mancur Menari during Ramadhan will not affect tourist visits to the city.
"Air Mancur Menari is only one of the enhancers to the beauty of the Jam Gadang area, so I am sure that it will not have an impact on our tourist visits," he said.
In accordance with the consideration of the city government, later a week before Eid al-fitr, Air Mancur Menari will be revived, because at that time tourists will also visit more, because it attracts tourists at night.
While the Deputy Governor of W Sumatra, Nasrul Abit welcomed the policy issued by the City Government of Bukittinggi because during the Ramadhan the community had to focus on worship.
With the new attraction in the Jam Gadang area, he advised that the City Government of Bukittinggi can anticipate traffic congestion in the region, especially ahead of, during and after Eid al-fitr.
"There must be a lot of people visiting the city, especially after being renovated. So there must be anticipatory steps, "he said.
