Pariaman (ANTARA) - The government of Pariaman City, W Sumatra will still open tourism objects in the city although there were an additional 31 cases of COVID-19 from the local Police.

“Tourism object is impossible to be closed, but we limit the number of visits," said Deputy Mayor of Pariaman Mardison Mahyuddin during a press conference in Pariaman, Tuesday.

He will further oversee the implementation of health protocols for tourists and residents to anticipate the spread of COVID-19.

His party is also drafting a Pariaman Mayor Regulation regarding sanctions or fines for residents and tourists who violate the COVID-19 health protocol.

"Maybe they will be given push-up sanctions like have done by the Civil Service Police Unit and the Pariaman City Fire Brigade," he said.

However, he continued, the regulation could impose fines to adjust to the current conditions because many residents did not apply health protocols.

He said that at least 27 personnel from the Pariaman Police and four of his family members confirmed positive for COVID-19 today.

"So there are 31 people from the Police, plus 13 people who tested positive for COVID-19 before, for a total of 44 people," he said.

The member of the Pariaman Police who is positive for COVID-19 is currently undergoing isolation at the Education and Training Center in Baso, Agam Regency.

Head of the Pariaman City Health Office, Syahrul, said that currently Pariaman has not entered the red zone or is still in the yellow zone.

Even though this city was the yellow zone, residents are still asked to tighten the implementation of health protocols to avoid being exposed to COVID-19.
