New normal, Padang forms monitoring team to ensure health protocols implemented in tourist destinations

Padang (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Culture Office of Padang city has formed a tourist destination supervision team to ensure all parties implemented the COVID-19 protocol during the new normal period so that tourism activities kept safe in terms of health.

"The monitoring team has came on a number of tourist destinations and the existing tourism industry, beginning with the socialization of the new normal protocol of tourism objects," said Head of the Tourism and Culture Office of Padang Arfian in Padang city, Wednesday.

According to him, from the observation almost all object managers and the tourism industry have understood and implemented new normal concepts ranging from ensuring tourists wear masks to providing a place to wash their hands.

"If there is still a tourism industry that has not implemented the COVID-19 protocol it will remind again and if it still not followed there will be sanctions for tourism businesses ranging from administration to fines," he said.

For leading destinations in the new normal period in Padang is Air Manis Beach which is currently managed by the Padang Sejahtera Mandiri Regional Public Company.

At Pantai Air Manis health protocols have been implemented, ranging from the availability of ultraviolet chambers, to washing hands.

Every guest who comes will be checked for body temperature, must wear masks including all traders in the location, he said

On the other hand his side is also preparing two new tourist destinations in Padang, namely the dam in Koto Tuo and Koto Pulai in Koto Tangah Subdistrict of Padang.

"We have visited the dam in Koto Tuo and prepared and encouraged the tourism awareness group to develop the tourism potential," he said.

He conveyed that in the future the Padang City Government will focus on developing tourism in the eastern part of Padang city.
