Batusangkar (ANTARA) - Deputy Head of Army Staff (Wakasad) Indonesian Military lieutenant. Tatang Sulaiman said he was impressed with the culture and historical heritage of Istano Basa Pagaruyung, Tanah Datar District, W Sumatra.
"We stop at Istano Basa Pagaruyung, one of the historical heritages, we must love the culture because we pass through areas that have cultural and historical value," he said when checking the first point of Bukit Barisan Gowes Ranah Minang 2020 at Istano Basa Pagaruyung on Sunday.
He said the Bukit Barisan Gowes Ranah Minang 2020 raised the slogan "mangayuah malinteh kampuang"(cycling around the village) which was followed by around 500 cyclists.
In addition to promoting regional tourism, Bukit Barisan Gowes also knows the region so the people love the region more.
"While we are riding healthy we also know the area to love the region more and be proud of the region as an Indonesian nation," he said.
He said the event was also filled with social service activities in the form of distributing food packages to 500 people.
"We hope that the assistance that we provide to the community is hopefully useful," he said.
Regent of Tanah Datar represented by the Regional Secretary, Irwandi said the local government was very supportive of the Bukit Barisan Gowes activity which was held in Istano Basa Pagaruyung.
The activity is expected to be able to support and boost regional tourism promotion because it is followed by cyclists from various regions in Indonesia.
