Chinese tourists scramble to get young coconuts at STIB Pariaman

Pariaman (ANTARA) - A number of tourists from Kunming, Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China scramble to get young coconuts that are served at Ape college (STIB) in Apar Tourism Village, Pariaman City, W Sumatra.

"STIB is a tourist attraction that is unique and the only one in Indonesia," said the Head of the Pariaman City Communication and Information Office, Hendri in Pariaman, Sunday.

He said in the STIB the ape was trained to pick coconuts so that the location was made as one of the leading tourist attractions in the City of Pariaman.

At the STIB, tourists not only see how the training process is, but also watch the attractions of coconut plucking.

The picked coconut is served to Chinese tourists so that it is still fresh and some tourists scramble to get it.

At the STIB also displayed the Minangkabau martial arts such as silat and some of the tourists tried to follow the movements of silat.

Then a number of other attractions visited by Chinese are Tabuik House and Gandoriah Beach.

Previously as many as 170 tourists from Kunming, Yunnan Province, the People's Republic of China visited three tourist attractions in Pariaman City and were presented with cultural arts in the area.

"This is effective in promoting tourism objects in Pariaman and in accordance with our aim to make Pariaman tourism more active," said the Acting Head of the Tourism and Culture Office of Pariaman City, Alfian in Pariaman.

He mentioned the three attractions such as Tabuik's house, Gandoriah Beach, and Ape college (STIB).
