Padang (ANTARA) - Situjuah Batua Art and Culture Festival which takes place on 12-20 January 2020 in Limapuluh Kota, W Sumatra offers local cultural wisdom, such as the appointment of a traditional leader, the miniak parade (a collection of traditional leaders of a region), bundo kanduang ( female leaders / role models in Minangkabau), and nephew.
"In addition to displaying local cultural wisdom, this activity is also a series of commemorations of the" Situjuah "event on January 15 which became one of the historical links in the struggle in Indonesia," said the village leader Situjuah Batua, Situjuah Limo Nagari, Limapuluh Kota, DV Dt Tan Marajo, in Limapuluh Kota, Sunday.
He explained that the event was attended by more than five thousand people who were initiated by the Jabodetabek Situjuah Batua Family Association (IKSB) and the Archipelago and abroad with young people. The event was also attended by W Sumatra Deputy Governor, Nasrul Abit.
"This event will also feature regional arts and support the tourism sector," he said.
W Sumatra Deputy Governor, Nasrul Abit appreciated the activity which was one of the efforts to preserve and pass down the noble values of the Minangkabau culture to the next generation.
The format of the event is in the form of a festival that will be more easily accepted by the younger generation and more easily understood by tourists.
He reminded that the role of the 'datuak' or traditional leader in Minangkabau was very large, especially in the current era of the industrial revolution.
He said negative values, such as drug abuse to LGBT, had reached remote parts of the country, so it needed the role of all parties to anticipate.
The peak of the Situjuah Batua Art and Culture Festival is the commemoration of the 71st Situjuah event as a series of PDRI 1948-1949.
