Three athletes of Tapak Suci Pesisir Selatan Participate in the world championship in Solo

Painan (ANTARA) - Three Silat Tapak Suci athletes in the Pesisir Selatan District, W Sumatra will take part in the Tapak Suci Muhammadiyah World Championships in Solo, Central Java, on August 30 until September 5, 2019.

"It is an honor for us to be able to take part in this prestigious championship, we are trying our best to achieve the best results," said the Head of the Pesisir Selatan Tapak Suci, Syafridon in Painan, on Friday.

He added that the inclusion of athletes from the local area cannot be separated from the various achievements of the West Sumatra Province to the national level.

Following the international championship it has been holding a variety of intense training patterns since the past month.

"Aside from myself, in this championship Fauzil and Tomi are participating, hopefully we can bring the name of the regency to the world level," he said.

According to the information he got the championship will be followed by Tapak Suci athletes from a number of countries such as Algeria, Timor Leste, Singapore, Egypt, Taiwan, Pakistan, Germany, Tunisia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Malaysia, and Lebanon.

The championship will compete for the M Barrie Irsyad Rotating Cup which is the founder of Tapak Suci and is also a professor of the martial arts college.

According to him at the championship will be competing 18 sports category numbers consisting of 11 boys and 7 girls, furthermore 16 art category numbers consisting of eight boys, seven girls and one team.

"The information is the event will also be used as preparation for PON 2020 and Silat Goes to Olympic 2020 which will be held in Japan, so we are very motivated to show the best," he added.

In addition, two martial arts athletes who won gold at the 2018 Asian Games, namely Iqbal Candra and Eko Febrianto will also take part in the grand championship. (*)
