Reverse Flow at BIM Began To Increase

Padang Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The reverse flow at Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) in Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra began to increase while entering D+1 of Eid al-Fitr 1439 Hijriah or June 17, 2018 .

"The number of travelers who departed reached 5,900 people at D+1 or increased compared to the previous day which only 4,847 people," Public Relations of PT Angkasa Pura II BIM Fendrick Sondra stated in here on Monday.

According to him, although there has been an increase in passengers who want to return but the arrival rate on D+1 is still high at 6,344 travelers.

"It means that homecoming flow is still high at BIM at Eid day," he said.

He said the number of passengers who departed increased 12 percent compared to the same period last year which only amounted to 4,416 people.

For the peak of the reverse flow, it is expected to occur on June 19-20 as well as June 23 and 24, 2018 based on last year's experience and statistical data, he pointed out.

He conveyed the movement of passengers at BIM on Eid this year is estimated to increase about 12 to 20 percent while the movement of aircraft about 5 to 10 percent.

The number for aircraft is about 864 movements and passengers are about 152 thousand people ranging from D-7 to D+7, he noted.

In order to serve travelers, his party prepares Minang traditional musical entertainment namely talempong in cooperating with Tourism Department of district and municipality.

In general, BIM currently has a runway length of 2,750 meters and can be landed by wide bodied aircraft.

"It can accommodate eight parking aircraft at the same time for apron capacity," he said.

While the terminal capacity currently reaches 2.7 million passengers per year although the number of passengers has reached four million people in 2017.

He also appealed to the passengers who will return to keep an eye on flight schedule and do not carrying too many items. (cha)
