Based on the data, available land in Mentawai reached 2,600 hectares and it has been released. This is sufficient for SEZ, he said in Padang, Wednesday.
He mentioned it after attending a national seminar of tourism in the framework of National Press Day 2018.
He said the data would soon be verified to the field to make sure the land is really available and free.
If the land is already there, according to him, it will not be difficult to realize the area to become SEZ, because the potential of Mentawai tourism is also very supportive.
In addition, if SEZ has been formed, other tourist destinations in the province will also be encouraged to prepare themselves into SEZ.
For example in Bangka Belitung. After Tanjung Kelayang is declared to be SEZ, two other destinations are also interested and have been proposed to be the same namely Tanjung Gunung and Sungai Liat.
West Sumatra previously proposed Maritime Tourism Area of Mandeh in South Pesisir DItrict to be SEZ, but it does not realize yet.
