BIM, Simpang Haru Station Railbus To Arrive in February

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The railbus unit which will be operated to connect Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) and Simpang Haru Station, Padang, West Sumatra, is scheduled to arrive in the area in the third week of February 2018."The vehicle unit is directly tested on the completed rail," West Sumatra Transportation Agency chief, Amran said in Padang on Tuesday.He said it was related to the operational plan of airport railbus in West Sumatra.According to him, before used rails and railbus, it must be tested repeatedly to ensure the safety of the path. The shortcomings or obstacles encountered during the trials are immediately corrected prior to the inauguration of the use of mass transit.Trial, he continued, should be done by using a new railbus unit or can not be done with the existing railroad units in West Sumatra at this time because of different rail sizes.Amran said if the trial is completed, it is planned that in May 2018, the use of airport railbus in West Sumatra will be inaugurated, possibly by the Ministry of Transportation.The arrival of the railbus unit is faster than previously estimated in March 2018.West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno when reviewing the readiness of the lane by the end of 2017 said the possibility of railbus units for airports in the area come March and the operation mid-2018.He hopes that the operation will not be delayed because the benefits of airport railbus are enormous to facilitate transportation access for people from the airport to the city center and vice versa.
