Simpang Empat (ANTARA) - The Government of Pasaman Barat W Sumatra is ready to break the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) ma-apam or cook food from rice flour using 1,500 hearths by women.
"This activity aims to preserve the Minangkabau culture, especially in Pasaman Barat because ma-apam tradition is always carried out by the community, especially Pasaman Barat before entering the Rajab Month," said Deputy Chairman Committee Andrinaldi at Simpang Empat, Sunday, March 8.
He said the tradition of ma-apam needed to be preserved, because this tradition was carried out only in special months, such as welcoming the Ramadan and the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
"This activity will be held on Thursday, March12 with 1,500 hearths in Taman Hutan Kota Padang Tujuh," he said.
For participants from women aged 30 years and over and they do not need to pay for this activity.
Besides that, there will also be a ma-apam photo contest and the ma-apam logo contest. The winner will be given a prize later.
He said the ma-apam activity was a tradition that had been going on for decades. When cooking apam, the value of togetherness is very visible.
"Cooking apam is fun and this tradition will continue if women can continue this tradition. In addition, there are prayers that are contained behind the tradition," he said.
The ingredients for making apam are very easy to obtain, such as rice flour, coconut milk, salt, sugar, and a number of natural sweeteners such as palm sugar. After being prepared all the ingredients are stirred together and form a white liquid.
Usually after cooking, it is eaten together or distributed to the community.
