Simpang Empat (ANTARA) - Bank Nagari Simpang Empat Branch, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra helped to successfully the ma-apam tradition or cooking food from rice flour using 1,600 hearths held by women, on Thursday.
"We fully support this cultural activity and coincide also with the 58th Anniversary of Bank Nagari on March 12, 2020," Irsyan Pasya, Head of Bank Nagari Simpang Empat Office, said on Thursday.
According to him, his party will continue to support the activities of the Regency Government and likewise the Regional Government will also continue to support developing Bank Nagari to host it in its own region.
"This activity is very positive because this activity aims to preserve the existing culture," he said.
He also said that at the ma-apam tradition would carry out cutting tumpeng and distribution of basic needs to the underprivileged.
"Hopefully this ma-apam event is successful and can break the MURI record," he hoped.
The ma-apam activity aims to preserve the Minangkabau culture, especially in West Pasaman. Because the tradition of ma-apam is always carried out by the community especially West Pasaman before entering the Rajab Month.
The tradition of ma-apam needs to be preserved, because this tradition is carried out only in special months, such as welcoming the holy month of Ramadan and the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
The ingredients for making apam are very easy to obtain, such as rice flour, coconut milk, salt, sugar, and a number of natural sweeteners such as palm sugar. After being prepared all the ingredients are stirred together and form a white liquid.
Usually after cooking, it is eaten together or distributed to the community.
