London (ANTARA) -  Indang or Dindin Badindin dance from W Sumatra Indonesia amazed viewers at The State Kremlin Palace in the Kremlin environment during the 60th anniversary of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) on weekends.

"The dance is presented by Indonesian students studying in Moscow with dynamic movements from dancers who attract the attention of visitors who fill the concert venue," said Pensosbud of the Republic of Indonesia Embassy in Moscow Enjay Diana to ANTARA in London on Tuesday.

The accompaniment of the Indang Dance song echoes in the 6,000-seat concert hall. The audience was carried away, there were also those who clapped to the rhythm of the songs and dance movements of the dancers on the stage.

The performers who stand on the left and right of the stage come to move their bodies and dance. Boisterous applause was heard at the end of the dance performance. The audience's voice shouted the word "bravo ... bravo ...".

Chair of the Indonesian Student Association at RUDN University, Willibrordus Duarmas, said the participation of Indonesian students to perform on the main stage of the concert center building in Russia was not an easy thing.

Every student art team from a country must register and follow a long selection process. Indonesia was chosen to be one of the participants along with a number of other countries.

A student of the RUDN University Faculty of Medicine, Willy, was pleased to be able to contribute, not only to the university, but to high officials and the Russian public, as well as invitations from various other countries

He said the appearance was not based on professionalism of dancers. But from the students that would be doctors, engineers, economists, or other field experts try to show and promote the culture of the Indonesian nation at the event.

Besides Indonesia, various dances, songs and music from several countries were also performed, namely Russia, South Africa, Germany, Congo, Cameroon, Kazakhstan, Palestine, China, France and Vietnam.

RUDN University was established on February 5, 1960 with a close historical ties with Indonesia. During a visit to Indonesia, February 21, 1960 Chairman of the Soviet Union's Council of Ministers, Nikita Khrushchev, told for the first time to the public of the establishment of a university in Moscow aimed at helping prepare nation's cadres from Latin American, African and Asian countries.

RUDN University is one of the leading universities not only in Russia, but also in the world. At present RUDN is studying 32,000 students, 9,500 of whom are students from 158 countries, including Indonesia.

In the era of President Soekarno, many Indonesian students were sent and studied at RUDN formerly known as Patris Lumumba University. Indonesian students are known for being active and creative. At present, at RUDN learns 31 students from Indonesia.

The Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, M. Wahid Surpiyadi expressed his high appreciation for the role of Indonesian students to promote Indonesia in Russia.

He said besides studying, Indonesian students were also ambassadors of the nation.

"We are equally promoting Indonesia in Russia with various efforts, including the active role of students in bringing relations between the two nations closer," he said.
