Pariaman, (Antara Sumbar) - The Regional Water Conservation Area (KKPD) of Pariaman Municipality, West Sumatra, has incubated or hatching as many as 4,013 sea turtle eggs since January to October 2017.
"From 4,013 eggs, successfully hatched as many as 2,326 hatchlings or turtle child," KKPD Pariaman Staff, Irwan told in Pariaman, Wednesday.
Then from 4,013 eggs, 260 of them are still in process because they were incubated in September and October 2017.
Each turtle egg takes two months in the incubation period on sand provided by KKPD Pariaman.
Some factors cause turtle eggs to fail during the incubation process, such as the way people pick up and estimate the time when turtle eggs are delivered to the breeding center.
Especially how to remove turtle eggs, people who find are required to use sand or cardboard as a medium of placement so as not to experience shocks.
Then the time interval when the turtle eggs out for a maximum of only six hours.
"The factors are crucial when people find and deliver turtle eggs to KKPD, but we always convey the right way," he said.
The peak of turtle nesting generally occurs at mid-year with different types. For the 2017 season, KKPD finds more dominant eggs of hollow type followed by green and scales.

Every people who find turtle eggs and deliver to KKPD Pariaman will get donation fee of Rp3,000 per item. It aims to motivate people more environmentally conscious and protect the animals. (cha)
