Pulau Punjung (ANTARA) - Traditional arts were presented in thanksgiving for the completion of the Rumah Gadang Kudan Raja Sungai Kambut belonging to Malayu tribe in Nagari Sungai Kambut, Pulau Punjung District, Dharmasraya Regency, W Sumatra, on Monday.
The atmosphere of culture was thick in the 'Babaliak' (back) to the Rumah Gadang Kudan Raja Sungai Kambut, where some traditional arts of minangkabau were displayed from randai until pasambahan dance.
Deputy Rajo Gadang Kudam House, Nopal Prayoga Datuak Gindo Malano said, in 2019 the Rumah Kudam Raja Sungai Kambut received revitalization funds for the repair of Rumah Gadang from the central ministry.
The funds amounting to approximately Rp.345 million were used for physical improvement and cultural activities in the Malayu tribe, he said.
"We hope that this activity can add and strengthen the order of customs, harmony and hospitality between people," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Dharmasraya custom, Abdul Haris Tuanku Sati, on that occasion invited all levels of society to continue to strengthen the customs and always preserve the culture in their respective environments. "The important thing is to protect our grandchildren from foreign cultural influences and negative things that will damage the customs of the Minangkabau people," he said.
Deputy Regent of Dharmasraya, Amrizal Dt Rajo Medan, said that the Rumah Gadang Kudan Raja Sungai Kambut is a building that has been included in the preservation center of W Sumatra Province's cultural preservation.
So that the budget for repairs is not only sourced from the state budget but also from the regional budget to increase the building of traditional houses, he said.
"Aid for repairing Rumah Gadang is a form of government concern for the preservation of culture in Minangkabau, especially in Dharmasraya. Let us together safeguard what this government has provided, "he added.
