Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The price of red chili at Raya Market Padang, West Sumatra since last three days goes down by Rp7,000 from Rp35,000 per kilogram to Rp26,000 per kilogram at the merchant level due to large supply and few demand.

One trader in Raya Market Padang, Wendy (49) in here on Tuesday said that the price of chili had risen from Rp28,000 per kilogram to Rp35,000 per kilogram as demand increased while entering Ramadhan (fasting month).

As for green chili price is stable around Rp25,000 per kilogram and the price of cayenne pepper is Rp50,000 per kilogram.

According to him, chilies sold in Raya Market Padang are mostly come from Java and Medan, while local chili is distributed outside the region.

In addition to chili, onion price also fell back to Rp30,000 per kilogram, after rising to Rp36,000 per kilogram.

"Almost a month ago, the supply of onion from Alahan Panjang Solok District is decreasing, because the commodities are mostly distributed outside the region such as Java Island," another trader, Rizal said.

He hopes the supply gets smoother and buyers no longer complain about the high price of onion.

Other basic commodities such as broilers have also increased in price since the last few days, from Rp35,000 to Rp40,000 for each.

Then, for vegetable prices such as beans is sold at Rp5,000 per kilogram, carrots Rp9,000 per kilogram, tomatoes Rp6,000 per kilogram, and purple eggplant Rp4,000 per kilogram.

Besides, kangkung is sold around Rp4,000 per bundle, long bean Rp5,000 per bundle, and potatoes Rp12,000 per kilogram.
