BKKBN Seeks Family Planning Village Additional in Mentawai

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Representative of West Sumatra seeks the addition of family planning village in Mentawai Islands District, official said.

Head of local BKKBN, Syahruddin after the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of KKBPK program in Padang, Wednesday said from ten new sub-districts, two of them are in Mentawai.

"Meanwhile, based on the national program since 2017, every sub-district must have a family village," he said.

This is because one of the main obstacles to family planning village development in Mentawai Islands is the access to transportation and the difficulty of passing the targeted area, as well as the lack of community understanding.

"Therefore, we have committed with local government that in April 2018 it will directly go down to intervene for the formation of family planning village in the sub-district that has not found his family village," he explained.

He mentioned that until now, West Sumatra already has 192 family planning village from 179 sub-districts.

Besides, various efforts are continued through the socialization and cooperation across sectors, so that it can encourage the formation of a family village in each district in the are, he remarked.

Meanwhile, Deputy of Prosperous Family and Family Empowerment of BKKBN, M. Yani said that family planning should not be interpreted as a village with a target to increase the achievements of family planning.

However, he added that family planning is a miniature form in which coordination, cross-sector synergy which is well established in improving the welfare of village or village communities. (cha)
