Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Mayor of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra Mahyeldi inaugurates the Tanah Ombak Colored Alley located in Purus III West Padang Sub-district as one of the residential areas painted in various colors.
"This colorful alley could be one of the tourism icons in Padang where its location close to Padang Beach," Mahyeldi said in Padang on Wednesday during the inauguration.
According to him in addition to visitors that can see a variety of paint patterns, there are also homestead of reading that have a collection of books and one literacy community which is quite well known in Padang.
He said the concept of colorful alley of Tanah Ombak can be applied in other settlements so that the main attraction will be more crowded area visited by visitors.
While the Community Committee of Tanah Ombak, Syuhendri said the making of the color gang of Tanah Ombak was made by cooperation of one private radio in Padang and the paint manufacturer.
"The work is almost a month by art students and collage students of Andalas University Political Science Department," he said.
Making the color gang along the 300 meters was spent up to 60 cans of paint.
He told at first there was a refusal of some residents to paint their houses, but after seeing the things are done, they are finally willing as well.
In the colorful alley, all the houses on the left and right are painted with a variety of bright and interesting motifs up to the roof. (cha)
