Padang (ANTARA) - The Government of Padang City will provide free wifi in the Permindo Night Market area in an effort to provide data services for market visitors which are held every Saturday night.

"The provision of free wifi is not only beneficial for visitors but also for people who have online businesses so they can increase transactions," said Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of the City of Padang, Rudy Rinaldi in Padang, Wednesday.

According to him, the free wifi is taken from the utilization of the network owned by the Padang city government but has not been used optimally.

In the evening, the city government's internet network was not used, so it was moved to the Permindo area so that residents could use it, he said.

He mentioned that currently there are 10 free wifi locations provided by the Padang City Government to make it easier for citizens to access the internet.

For the Permindo Night Market area free wifi is provided every Friday night and Saturday night.

"Permindo Night Market takes place on Jalan Permindo Padang, which starts at 06:00 pm until 12.00 am presenting a variety of treats ranging from culinary, entertainment and others.

Deputy Mayor of Padang, Hendri Septa hopes that Permindo Night Market can increase the income of traders on Jalan Permindo.

During the Permindo Night Market, Jalan Permindo will be closed from vehicles and provided a special parking space on Jalan Ratulangi, until in front of the Padang Theater.

So visitors can enjoy walking and shopping at the various booths available and will be enlivened with attractive lighting decorations.

While the Head of the Padang City Tourism Office, Arfian said Permindo Night Market was not only limited to a market place for transactions between traders and visitors.

"The concept is as a tourist destination at night with a variety of shopping choices as well as entertainment both traditional and modern," he said.

Permindo Street Traders' Advisors, Miko Kamal, ensure that they fully support the implementation of Permindo Night Market.
