Lubukbasung (ANTARA) -  Regent of Agam, W Sumatra, Indra Catri said that the area is a paradise for rafflesia flowers because there are many rare flowers found in the area.

"The population of the Rafflesia flower distribution is in Palupuh, Tanjungraya, Palembayan, Baso and other districts," he said when he saw the Tuan-Mudae Rafflesia flower that bloomed in Marambuang, Nagari Baringin, Palembayan District, on Thursday.

He said the rafflesia flowers that grew in Agam were Arnoldii and Tuan-mudae  types.

The Tuan-mudae Rafflesia flower in Marambuang, Nagari Baringin, Palembayan District is the largest in the world with a diameter of 111 centimeters.

He added, so far only Rafflesia flowers have been exposed in Palupuh, even around Lake Maninjau most commonly found.

"So far, volcanic lakes are only famous for the beauty of nature and we will make this tour package that will be offered to tourists," he said.

Going forward, the relevant agencies will plan to build road infrastructure to the location so that tourists have no trouble going to the location to see the beauty of flowers closely.

One member of the W Sumatra BKSDA, Khairi Ramadhan said Agam was a Rafflesia park in W Sumatra, because flowers were found in the area.

"The local government must immediately claim the Rafflesia Park. The location can be used as education and natural laboratories for researchers and students, "he said.

In the near future, seven knobs of Rafflesia Arnoldii Flowers will also bloom at Data Simpang Dingin, Nagari Paninjau, Tanjungraya District.

The flower is predicted to bloom perfectly close together, because there are signs of bloom.

"The distance of the seven knobs is quite close to about 100 meters, because it is located at two points," he said.
