Painan, (Antara Sumbar) - A total of 30 homes in Nagari (Indigenous Village) of Muaro Kandis Punggasan, Linggo Sari Baganti Sub-district, South Pesisir Distyrict, West Sumatra were damaged until they could not be inhabited due to abrasion since 2008.
"In addition to the damaging of 30 homes, the abrasion that continues to this day also threatens dozens of other homes in the area," Local Regent, Hendrajoni stated in Painan, on Tuesday.
His party on Monday (Dec 25) has reviewed the location and communicate directly with the community there.
"It must be done quickly, so the loss is not increased," he said.
In addition to review the location, it also mentioned that it has opened communication with PSDA officials of West Sumatra and related ministries to find a way out of the problem.
"Possible in Muaro Kandis Punggasan, it will be constructed rock retaining waves so the settlement is safe from abrasion," he said.
For the time being, he invites the public there to stay alert before the waves are built so the losses can be minimized.
"Safety is more important than valuables and immediately contact the government apparatus if the abrasion occurs again so that aid can be channeled immediately," he continued.
Moreover, since last week, the weather in the area is quite extreme so that the vigilance of the people in the location really should be improved. (cha)
