Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Teluk Bayur Maritime of Padang Municipality reminded people in coastal areas to be wary of flood caused by high tides due to sea water (rob) during a total lunar eclipse on January 31.

"The total lunar eclipse also coincides with the phenomenon of moon and earth distance closer than usual which is about 360,000 kilometers or commonly referred to as the moon in the perigee," BMKG Marine Bayer Ibrahim stated in Padang on Tuesday.

BMKG estimates the tide of sea water in the province to reach 1.4 meters and recede at a height of 0.2 meters. People are encouraged to be alert and anticipate the impact of the maximum tide.

Then for the sea waves in the western coastal area of West Pasaman regency to coastal of South Pesisir 0.50 to 0.75 meters.

Furthermore, the west coast of Bengkulu 0.75 to two meters, the western waters of Siberut Island, Sipora, North-South Pagai, and Enggano Island Mentawai District sea waves reach one to two meters.

Then the West India Islands, Mentawai Islands to the Indian Ocean, West Bengkulu sea waves reach two to 2.5 meters.

While BMKG Ketaping Station, Padang Pariaman estimates while the occurrence of total lunar eclipse, the weather is mostly cloudy.

Head of BMKG Ketaping, Achadi Subarkah mentioned the area with cloudy weather on January 31, 2018 namely Padang Panjang, Bukittinggi, Padang, Pariaman and Agam.
