Padang (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo's policy to ban the general public from going home will greatly assist the effectiveness of implementing large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in W Sumatra because it will significantly reduce arrivals.
"Now there are about a thousand people coming from the airways every day. We are worried if those who come are positive COVID-19 but there will be no symptoms. If it is prohibited, it will be effective," W Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno said in Padang on Wednesday.
He said that when visiting a number of PSBB surveillance points in the area including at BIM, Kasang market Padang Pariaman post and Kayu Kalek border post.

According to him the local government tried as much as possible to trace people who had contact with positive patients with COVID-19. It is believed that by implementing PSBB, the distribution chain can be controlled.
Meanwhile, if there are still newcomers who enter, it is feared that there will be new cases that will not be detected and will cause an outbreak.
At present immigrants entering W Sumatra by air and nine land border gates reach 4,791 people a day.
The total number of arrivals who have entered W Sumatra from March 31 to April 21, 2020 has reached 110,195 people.

"We are firm in order they do independent isolation for 14 days. However, not everyone obeys," he said.
Regarding the implementation of the first day of PSBB, Irwan assessed that it was generally quite good. traffic flow was reduced, many shops have closed but there are still people who ignore.
He hopes that with good socialization all members of the community can obey the prohibition in order to break the chain of COVID-19 distribution.
