Arosuka (ANTARA) - The Government of Solok Regency, W Sumatra, confirmed that the Tour de Singkarak Stage VI route still passes Danau Singkarak as a starting point so that it does not eliminate the icon of the annual bicycle race event.

"Previously, we proposed the Arosuka City Forest Park (THKW) as the start of stage VI in Solok, and according to the assessment of the Union Cycliste International(UCI) committee, it was more conducive than the Danau Singkarak Pier," said Head of Solok Regency's Tourism and Culture Office, Nasripul Romika in Arosuka, on Friday.

But, according to him there are pros and cons because it is considered to eliminate the TDS icon, even though the aim is to create a new atmosphere and popularize Arosuka.

Previously, a survey conducted by the UCI team was initially suggested to look for alternative starting locations on the 2019 TdS stage in addition to the Singkarak pier.

Based on the assessment indicators, the location of the Singkarak pier which is held every year, tends to be less representative in terms of the aesthetic view.

"Both for documentation and in terms of the feasibility of the capacity to park vehicles and the need for opening events, such as tents, riging and so on, are inadequate," he explained.

Based on the study, together with the UCI team, it was looking for alternatives that were deemed appropriate for the starting location.

"But finally the TdS Stage VI route in Solok Regency, remains from Singkarak Pier to Green Open Space of Solok Selatan," he said.

Stage VI route is the longest route in TdS 2019 because the distance reaches 214,2 km.

He said he tried to prepare various things, including arts and cultural attractions that will be presented.

The 2019 de Singkarak tour will be held from 2 to 10 November. As for the grand start at Gandoriah Beach, Pariaman on 2 November 2019 and the grand Finish at Danau Cimpago of Padang on 10 November 2019.
