Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Government of Sijunjung Regency, W Sumatra is being intense in developing geopark tourism destinations so that they study at Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta and plan to establish cooperation.

During a working visit to Gunung Kidul Regency, Special Province of Yogyakarta (DIY), the Regent of Sijunjung, W Sumatra, Yuswir Arifin, DT Indo Marajo brought dozens of journalists and OPD leaders on Thursday.

The Regent of Sijunjung and his entourage were welcomed by the Regent of Gunung Kidul Badingah, at a friendly meeting held at Pendopo Bangsal Sewoko Projo, Gunung Kidul Regency.

Regent of Gunung Kidul Hj. Badingah, accompanied by the Head of the Office of Communication and Information, Kelik Yuniantoro, Head of the Tourism Office, Asti Wijayanti, Assistant II Setda, Azman Latif, and GM Gunungsewu Geopark, Budi Martono.

"Sijunjung Regent is the same as me, we both became regents twice," said Gunung Kidul regent.

He explained, Gunung Kidul Regency was the widest in DIY, in the past Gunung Kidul was underestimated because 25 percent of the farming community was dependent on rain.

"Natural Resources of Gunung Kidul is rich, beaches and mountains and tourism source based on community . The development of information and communication technology will determine the development of Gunung Kidul, "said Gunung Kidul Regent.

GM Gunungsewu Geopark, Budi Martono gave praise to the Regent of Sijunjung because the Silokek Geopark is very beautiful so it had been established by UNESCO together with Ngarai Sianok and Sawahlunto.

According to GM Gunungsewu Budi Martono, that based on meeting with the Asian Pacific Geopark Network (APGN) which took place at Rinjani Geopark, Lombok on 2-6 September 2019. The plan is besides the tourism sector, conservation of karst areas will also be increased.

About culinary, said GM Gunungsewu is also one of the supporters of tourism development.

GM Gunungsewu Budi Martono explained about the development of Gunungsewu while acknowledging pride in the beauty of the Sijunjung Silokek Geopark. " Silokek Geopark is so beautiful, Ngarai Sianok and Sawahlunto. W Sumatra is admired by its natural beauty, "he said.
