Padang held PIOM Festival for the third time

Padang (ANTARA) - The Government of Padang City, W Sumatra held the Padang Indian Ocean Music (PIOM) 2019 Festival on October 25-27 2019 for the third time which is one of the follow-up to the meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (RIM).

"This year is the third event, five countries have confirmed will be present, namely Germany, India, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia," said Head of the Tourism Office of Padang City, Arfian in Padang on Thursday.

He conveyed that the 2019 Indian Ocean Music Festival is located in two places, on October 25-26, 2019 at the Agus Salim Sports Hall in Padang and on the last day of October 17, 2019 took place in the old Klenteng of Kota Tua area, Padang.

PIOM Fest is an international music festival held by the Padang City Government to strengthen cooperative relations, especially in the fields of culture and tourism between member countries of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

"PIOM Fest is an effort to strengthen tourism and cultural cooperation between IORA islands, this activity becomes an annual routine agenda," he said.

Previously, the implementation of PIOM Fest under the Siti Nurbaya Bridge in Padang, this year the event will be held in Kota Tua area.

Beside that, for the regions that have been confirmed to take part in this activity are from Bengkulu and Batusangkar.

In The 2018 Piom Fest showed the musicians from seven countries namely Indonesia, India, Mauritius, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam and Peru.

Then, the event that perfomed from Indonesia were the sacred performances from Padang, Darak Badarak from Pariaman, New Ensamble from Sawahlunto, and Dol Mayangsari from Bengkulu. (*)
