Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Member of Commission IV of Provincial House of Representatives, Hermanto reminded the local government to keep food distribution running smoothly to prevent the parties which try to do the hoarding, especially before Eid al-Fitr.
"Local governments should anticipate the rising food prices by ensuring good running distribution and crack down on speculators," he said in here on Tuesday.
According to him, local government especially Department of Trade should be alert from now do prevention so that there is no speculators especially ahead of Eid needs increased.
"In addition, it needs to make sure the stock is sufficient so that the price stability is maintained," he remarked.
He considered the alertness of local government can prevent speculators hoarding goods for the benefit of raising prices with the intention of reaping high profits.
On the other hand, for rice commodities, he requested that Bulog ensures stock availability both in quantity and quality.
Meanwhile, there are 13,500 tons of rice stock which has been prepared by Bulog to fulfill the needs during Ramadhan (fasting month) and enter Eid 1439 Hijriah in West Sumatra.
"13,500 tons can fulfill the stock of five months ahead as well as for the needs of market operations, low-cost markets to fill kiosks," Head of Bulog Divre II Suharto Djabar added. (cha)
