Padang (ANTARA) - The application of Minister of Transportation's Regulation (Permenhub) No. 25 of 2020 concerning Transportation Control during the 2020 Lebaran 'Mudik' (homecoming) Period in W Sumatra has not been maximized because there are still many travelers who pass the border.

W Sumatra COVID-19 Task Force data received in Padang on Sunday the number of people who entered the province from March 31 to April 24 reached 120,589 people while on April 25 there were 122,326 people.

From the data it can be seen that the period April 24-25, 2020 there were 1,737 people who escaped to W Sumatra. The number is indeed reduced from the average number of nomads who enter W Sumatra per day before Permenhub 25/2020 is applied, which is around 4,531 people.

However, the number also shows that the implementation of Permenhub 25/2020 in the province has not been maximized, it should be that from April 24 to May 31, 2020 there is no land transportation that enter and depart W Sumatra which implements Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB).

Head of W Sumatra Satpol PP, Dedy Diantolani, who is the coordinator of the field inspection at the provincial border, said that the authorities to stop and prohibit land transportation from entering W Sumatra are the National Police, the Indonesian Army and the Ministry of Transportation.

The three elements just started actively serving at the border post to replace Satpol PP officers on Monday (4/27) so that the Minister of Transportation Regulation 25/2020 could also be effectively implemented on that day.

"Previously we were tasked with recording people entering W Sumatra and implementing selective restrictions. When the PSBB was implemented we were not authorized to refer to the Permenhub 25/2020," he said.
