Passenger traffic drops  80 percent at Minangkabau Airport

Padang (ANTARA) - PT Angkasa Pura II as the manager of the Minangkabau International Airport recorded that the number of passenger on April 6, 2020 was only 1,350 or decreased by 80 percent compared to the same period last year.

"On April 6, 2019 the number of passengers reached 6,728 people, currently only 20 percent since the corona outbreak," said Executive General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II at the Minangkabau Airport Yos Suwagiyono in Padang on Tuesday.

According to him the reduction in passengers by up to 80 percent is a very significant number and the decline in aircraft movements has reached 61 percent.

However, he ensured that the passengers did not need to worry because they would continue to provide the best service by prioritizing safety and comfort.

PT Angkasa Pura II adjusted the operational pattern to Slow Down after the number of passengers decreased due to the Corona Virus Disease outbreak.

Adjusting operational patterns aimed to maintain the health aspects of aircraft passengers, airport visitors, and workers at the airport, he said.

He explained that adjusting operational patterns by operational restrictions at the terminal, so that passenger flow in the entire airport area was automatically simplified, health checks and health surveillance more optimal.

"The operational adjustment pattern, aims the Minangkabau airport enable to operate optimally and always notice the aspects of safety, security, service and compliance with regulations amid the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

PT Angkasa Pura II also applies Operational HR optimization with a 3-session official roster system for employees who are tasked in supporting airport operations.

"With three-session system, employees in airport operations to have more time to rest at home so that the risk of exposure to the virus is reduced. In this situation, health aspects become a priority, " he said.
