Pariaman (ANTARA) - Tourist visits to Angso Duo Island in Pariaman City, W Sumatra increased to 150 percent from 200 people on weekdays to 500 people entering school holidays and the new year 2020.

"The visit began to increase on December 21 and was dominated by tourists from outside the City of Pariaman and W Sumatra," said Chairman of the Independent Tourism Piaman Cooperative, Riki Bermana in Pariaman, on Wednesday.

He added that in providing comfort and safety to visitors, the management of tourist vessels is now left to the cooperative as a shelter for ship entrepreneurs in the area.

"Our system was improved by having official permits, as well as with complete security equipment," he said.

He said that currently the number of tour ships incorporated into the cooperative reached 30 units with the departure of two locations, first at the dock located at the estuary and second at the beach.

He said that currently the boat ticket to Angso Duo Island is IDR 40 thousand per person for accommodation to the island and back, up IDR 5,000 from the previous price of IDR 35 thousand.

Although there are those who sell the ticket price below that price, he ensures that it is an illegal activity and does not have tickets and insurance.

Therefore, he appealed to tourists who were going to Angso Duo Island not to board a ship that did not have a ticket so that their safety were guaranteed.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Pariaman City Tourism and Culture Office said that the transfer of the management of tourism vessels to cooperatives was put into effect after the shipwreck incident.

"But supervision is still carried out," he said.

He said the operational supervision of the ship was carried out by the Department of Transportation and other parties while it was tasked with improving service and tourism awareness.
